The 3rd commandment is about more than just saying God's name when you hit your thumb with a hammer. Misusing his name is pretty common as we find ourselves wanting to leverage God for our own agendas. And sometimes we leverage Him against Himself.

Grace is inconsistent with earning. But it's not inconsistent with effort. God has given us the gift of his spoken will and some clear moral direction to act on - to put effort into. It's not that we have to follow his instructions. We get to. And when it comes to idolatry, God is jealous for us. It''s a beautiful thing to be loved that much.

There are four arenas of delegated authority: Civil, Spiritual, Family and Social. These all present some challenges when we try to properly navigate our roles within them. The Bible has much to say about how we honor God and others in light of these 4 arenas.

Relationships are foundational to every aspect of life. Faith is no exception. This introduction to our "Woven" series has much to say about the two-fold potential for relationships to either enrich our spiritual lives or sell short the dreams we have of life to the full.

Life to the Full

Why does giving matter? Maybe the better question is, "Why does worship matter?" The truth is, God doesn't need our worship. But he wants us to be worshippers so that our lives are filled with eternal purpose and power.

God is offering us real freedom. Despite what you may have heard, freedom isn't the liberty to do what you want to do. It's the power to be what you are created to be. Christian freedom is about glorification, not gratification. And glorification is what "life to the full" is all about.

This is a compelling introduction to our 2009 focus. Jesus' teaching in John 10 likens us to sheep and himself to our shepherd. Life to the full is about knowing the shepherds voice and denying other voices the opportunity to disorient us from an eternal perspective.
